The Caric Collection, in the footsteps of the Giant’s Causeway…

Giant's Causeway

The Giant’s Causeway is one of the most remarkable natural sites in Europe. It is a natural wonder located on the coast of Antrim in Northern Ireland. It was declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1986

The design inspiration for the Caric Collection comes from the magnificence of the Giant’s Causeway. Its hexagonal stone formations play a key role in the design, interpreting the shape and beauty of the Giant’s Causeway. Did you know ‘Carrig’ is the Irish word for rock?

The Caric Collection is Sterling Silver with a piece of Irish Gold in each design, echoing the unique hexagonal structures of The Giant’s Causeway.

According to local legend, the causeway was built by a giant named Finn MacCool. The story goes that Finn had a rival giant across the sea in Scotland named Benandonner. The two giants were constantly bickering and arguing, and Finn decided to build a causeway across the sea so that they could fight each other.

Finn worked hard to build the causeway, but when he saw the size of Benandonner, he realized that he was outmatched. So, Finn disguised himself as a baby and asked his wife to put him in a cradle. When Benandonner arrived and saw the size of the baby, he assumed that Finn must be even bigger than he was, and he fled back to Scotland, destroying the causeway behind him.

The real story of the causeway’s formation is a bit less dramatic. The columns were formed about 60 million years ago, when molten lava from a volcanic eruption cooled and solidified. The cooling process caused the rock to contract and crack, resulting in the distinctive polygonal columns we see today.

Regardless of its origins, the Giant’s Causeway is a fascinating geological formation that has captured the imagination of people for centuries, and it remains a popular tourist destination in Northern Ireland today.

Behind every piece is a story…
