the story of Irish Jewelry inspired by the Goddess Danu

At House of Lor Irish Jewelry, we take our inspiration from our beautiful Irish surroundings, the elements, nature, mythology and folklore.

The combination of the Irish mythology goddess, Danu, the mythical mother goddess of the Tuatha Dé Danann, and the celestial Moon are the design inspirations behind the Danu Irish Jewelry Collection.

House of Lor’s DANU Moon Pendant

Irish mythology is a rich source of stories and provides designers with the perfect inspiration to create and discover beauty in Irish culture. The Danu Collection was crafted from the combination of two ancient design elements—the Irish goddess Danu, the mother goddess of the Tuatha Dé Danann, and the celestial force of the Moon. Featuring jewelry pieces that reflect these references to Irish mythology, this collection encapsulates Irish heritage and adds an extra touch of elegance to any attire. Moreover, each piece’s intricate craftsmanship pays homage to Irish artisanal excellence as each jeweler strives to portray Ireland’s timeless traditions through their work. Accordingly, the Danu collection proudly preserves Irish heritage while creating eye-catching designs at the same time.

The Tuatha Dé Dannan were the Celtic tribe that first invaded Ireland. Danu is the most ancient of the Celtic gods.  She was referred to as the mother of the Irish gods, which indicates that she was a mother goddess.

Danu is sometimes referred to as the ‘mother of the Irish gods’, and many characters in early Irish mythology are directly linked to Danu. Danu is an important part of Irish history and culture and, indeed, a source of pride for those interested in their own roots. Her legacy lives on and continues to be remembered in modern-day Ireland.

One of the symbols of the Goddess Danu is the moon. In our designs, we use full and half-moon depictions.
The Moon exerts a strong gravitational pull that causes the changing tides in our oceans and seas. This gravitational pull is at its strongest during the New Moon and Full Moon, creating a rhythm that has guided humans for thousands of years.

We take great pride in creating pieces featuring both full and half-moon depictions that capture Danu’s mythical presence. Not only do these designs serve as beautiful pieces of jewelry, but they are also a representation of Danu’s Celtic traditions. Show your admiration for this powerful goddess by wearing one of Danu’s exquisitely crafted pendants!
